Partition of Property
Co-owning real estate does not always go as planned. Whether the property was inherited, purchased with a partner, or jointly owned with family or friends, disputes can arise over how it should be used, maintained, or divided. When co-owners cannot agree, a partition action may be the legal path forward.
We help our clients through a variety of issues including:
• Initiating or defending against partition actions
• Seeking court-ordered sale (partition by sale)
• Addressing reimbursement for mortgage payments, taxes, or improvements
• Negotiating buyouts or settlement terms to avoid court
Partition claims can be especially sensitive when they involve family members or long-time partners. We work to minimize conflict where possible while ensuring your ownership interests are protected.
